THE PARADIGM SHIFT IN TRANSLATION: EVALUATING THE SYNERGY BETWEEN NEURAL MACHINE TRANSLATION (NMT) AND HUMAN INTUITION

Abstract

   The rapid advancement of Neural Machine Translation (NMT) has sparked a debate regarding the future of the human translator. This article examines the transition from traditional "Human Translation" to "Human-in-the-loop" workflows. It analyzes the linguistic limitations of AI—specifically regarding "Pragmatic Competence" and "Cultural Transcreation"—and argues that while machines handle syntax, the human translator’s role is evolving into that of a high-level cultural consultant.
