Annotation: This article analyzes the distinctive characteristics of scientific and literary translation. As one of the major branches of translation theory, it highlights the fundamental differences between these two types-their objectives, target language functions and stylistic features, and the skills required of the translator. The primary task of scientific translation is to convey information accurately and completely, where the precision of terminology and logical consistency take precedence. Literary translation, on the other hand, is primarily judged by its aesthetic impact, imagery, and preservation of the author's style. The article shows that these two approaches demand fundamentally different approaches from the translator.
