INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION IN UZBEKISTAN’S VOCATIONAL COLLEGES: EMPIRICAL CHALLENGES AND METHODOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS

Abstract

Abstract—This study addresses the critical intersection of vocational education and professional linguistic competence within the technical college (technikum) system of Uzbekistan. As the national economy undergoes rapid industrial modernization, the demand for technicians with English for Specific Purposes (ESP) proficiency has intensified. This paper investigates the pedagogical constraints of current instructional models, particularly the mismatch between general English curricula and industrial needs. Through an empirical analysis of classroom dynamics, the study proposes an integrated framework combining Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) with digital simulation tools. The findings suggest that shifting from grammatical memorization to task-based technical communication significantly enhances student engagement and professional readiness.
