Abstract

Final-year law students face the dual challenge of consolidating rigorous academic knowledge while preparing for the transition into professional legal practice. At this critical stage, tutors play a pivotal role in balancing the intellectual demands of legal education with the emotional and professional support students require. This article explores the ways in which tutors can maintain academic rigor through challenging assignments, moot courts, research projects, and critical feedback, while simultaneously fostering student well-being through mentorship, guidance, and career support. It emphasizes the importance of striking a balance between high expectations and empathetic support, highlighting the tutor’s role in shaping students’ professional identities and resilience. By fostering both competence and confidence, tutors not only prepare students for the challenges of the legal profession but also contribute to their holistic development as ethical and reflective practitioners.
