ENDURANCE, AND THE INDOMITABLE HUMAN SPIRIT IN HEMINGWAY'S THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA
Abstract
This paper explores the major themes and symbolic meanings in The Old Man and the Sea written by Ernest Hemingway. It focuses on persistence, personal dignity, and the connection between humans and the natural world. Through analytical reading, the study shows that the protagonist’s journey reflects moral strength rather than physical success. The results indicate that the novel values determination and inner courage above material outcomes.
