Abstract

This article investigates the major differences and similarities between British and American dialects of the English language. The study focuses on phonetic, lexical, grammatical, and spelling distinctions that characterize these two major varieties of English. The research also analyzes the influence of globalization, media, and cultural exchange on the development of both dialects. Using the IMRAD structure, the article demonstrates how dialectal variation contributes to linguistic diversity and communication across English-speaking communities. The findings reveal that despite structural differences, British and American English remain mutually intelligible and continue influencing each other in modern communication.
