Abstract: Directional motion verbs represent an important part of verbal semantics as they express not only movement but also direction, path, source, goal, and deictic orientation. This article examines the semantic field of directional motion verbs in English and Uzbek from a comparative perspective. The study explores how the two languages encode directed movement and identifies their semantic and typological similarities and differences. The analysis shows that English typically expresses direction through verbs combined with particles and prepositions, whereas Uzbek frequently employs lexical verbs, auxiliary constructions, and grammatical markers. Special attention is given to the opposition between come/go and kelmoq/bormoq, as well as verbs denoting entrance, exit, ascent, descent, crossing, and return. The findings demonstrate that directional motion verbs form a structured semantic field shaped by cognitive, grammatical, and typological factors. The results may contribute to comparative linguistics, translation studies, cognitive semantics, and language teaching.
