Abstract

This article examines the integration of international payment systems with customs control and its implications for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). With the expansion of the digital economy, the growth of electronic payment volumes, real-time transaction verification, and the wider adoption of global payment platforms are transforming cross-border trade processes. The integration brings significant advantages for SMEs, including reduced transaction costs, faster customs processing, and increased operational transparency. At the same time, it introduces several risks, such as AML/CFT threats, value manipulation practices (under/over-invoicing), cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and additional technical burdens for customs authorities. The study provides a comprehensive assessment of these opportunities and risks and offers practical recommendations for ensuring effective integration in the context of Uzbekistan.
