This article examines the modern evolution of trade diplomacy between India and Australia, focusing on the economic impact of the ECTA agreement and the growing role of the digital economy and international payment systems in shaping bilateral trade. The study explores recent reforms implemented by both countries to modernise external trade policy, digitalise customs procedures, simplify export regulations, expand services trade, and enhance electronic payment infrastructure. India’s digital trade ecosystem - including FTP 2023, E-Amrit, and RoDTEP - and Australia’s rules-based trade governance supported by DFAT and FIRB are analysed using official statistical data and sectoral indicators.
