Abstract

This article presents a semantic analysis of aphorisms expressing the concept of country in English and Uzbek languages. Aphorisms are regarded as concise linguistic units that reflect national consciousness, cultural values, and worldview. The study aims to identify semantic similarities and differences in the conceptualization of “country” by analyzing selected aphorisms from both languages. The research reveals that while both linguistic cultures associate the concept of country with homeland, identity, and loyalty, Uzbek aphorisms emphasize emotional attachment and collective responsibility, whereas English aphorisms tend to focus on civic duty, political structure, and individual responsibility.
