TEACHING ENGLISH BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: TURNING EVERYDAY LIFE INTO A LANGUAGE LAB

Traditional English language teaching has long been associated with classrooms, textbooks, and standardized assessments. While these components remain important, they often fail to reflect how language is naturally acquired and used in real life. This article explores unconventional and innovative approaches to teaching English by transforming everyday life experiences into meaningful language-learning opportunities. Drawing on experiential learning theory, communicative language teaching, and learner-centered pedagogy, the paper argues that authentic contexts, emotional engagement, and real-world tasks significantly enhance learners’ fluency, confidence, and long-term retention. The article also provides practical implications for English teachers seeking to move beyond traditional methods and create dynamic, life-based learning environments.
