DIDACTIC METHODS FOR ENSURING THE EFFECTIVE ACQUISITION OF IDIOMS IN THE LEARNING PROCESS
Abstract
Language is not only a system of grammatical structures and vocabulary but also a reflection of culture, traditions, and ways of thinking. One of the most expressive and culturally significant components of any language is idiomatic expressions. Idioms are fixed phrases whose meanings cannot be fully understood from the literal meanings of their individual components. Because of their figurative nature, idioms often present considerable difficulties for language learners. Despite having a strong command of grammar and vocabulary, students may struggle to understand or appropriately use idiomatic expressions in real communication.
