THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

Abstract

Language and culture are closely interconnected elements of human society[1]. Language functions not only as a tool for communication but also as a medium through which cultural values, traditions, and beliefs are expressed and transmitted. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between language and culture and to analyze how cultural factors influence linguistic structures and expressions. This research is based on a qualitative analysis of linguistic literature and cultural examples such as idioms, proverbs, and culturally specific expressions. The results show that language reflects cultural identity and helps preserve cultural heritage across generations. Furthermore, cultural changes can lead to changes in language usage and communication patterns. Understanding the relationship between language and culture is important for linguistics, language learning, translation, and intercultural communication.
