COOPERATIVE LEARNING IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSROOMS
Abstract
Cooperative learning has become an increasingly important approach in modern English language teaching due to its focus on interaction, collaboration, and learner engagement. This article examines the effectiveness of cooperative learning in improving students’ language proficiency and communicative competence. Drawing on classroom-based observations and established theoretical frameworks, the study demonstrates that cooperative learning enhances students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while also promoting motivation and social development. The findings suggest that this approach creates a more dynamic and supportive learning environment compared to traditional teaching methods.
