Abstract

This article explores effective ways of enhancing listening comprehension in an integrated learning environment, where language skills are taught not in isolation but as interconnected components of communication. Listening is often considered one of the most challenging skills for language learners, as it requires not only understanding words and structures but also interpreting meaning, tone, context, and speaker intention in real time. In traditional classrooms, listening activities are frequently limited to passive exercises; however, an integrated approach offers a more dynamic and meaningful way to develop this essential skill. The study highlights how integrating listening with speaking, reading, and writing activities creates a richer and more engaging learning experience. When learners listen to authentic materials such as stories, conversations, or multimedia content and then respond through discussion, note-taking, role-playing, or creative tasks, they become active participants in the learning process. This interaction helps them process information more deeply, improve comprehension, and build confidence in using the language. Special attention is given to the role of context, task design, and learner engagement in improving listening skills. The article emphasizes that when listening is connected to meaningful tasks, such as solving problems, expressing opinions, or collaborating with peers, learners are more motivated and attentive. In addition, the use of visual aids, digital tools, and real-life scenarios supports comprehension by making input more accessible and relatable.
