Abstract

This article examines paralinguistic features in business communication through a comparative analysis of English and Uzbek discourse. In the context of globalization, effective communication depends not only on linguistic competence but also on vocal, non-verbal, and written elements that shape meaning and interpretation. The study analyzes key paralinguistic features, including intonation, pitch, pauses, speech rate, facial expressions, gestures, and written strategies such as punctuation and politeness markers. The findings reveal that, despite using similar resources, English and Uzbek business discourse differ significantly in their pragmatic functions. Uzbek communication emphasizes politeness, indirectness, and social harmony, while English discourse prioritizes clarity, efficiency, and assertiveness.
