Abstract

This article provides an in-depth comparative analysis of intonation in English and Uzbek spoken communication. Intonation, as a key component of prosody, influences grammatical meaning, emotional expression, discourse organization, and communicative intent. The study examines the stress-timed rhythm of English and the syllable-timed rhythm of Uzbek, focusing on how these rhythmic differences shape pitch patterns, emphasis, and pragmatic interpretation. Cross-cultural implications, language learning challenges, and pedagogical considerations are also discussed.
