Abstract

This article explores the phonetic and phonological traits of Australian English (AusE), focusing on its historical evolution, systemic features, and sociolinguistic variation. Special emphasis is placed on vowel shifts, consonant patterns, prosodic characteristics, and regional distinctions. The study highlights how Australian pronunciation differs from other major English varieties, particularly British Received Pronunciation (RP) and General American (GA).
