Oziq-ovqat oddiy ehtiyojdan ko‘ra ko‘proq narsani anglatadi; u tarix, o‘zlik va ijtimoiy tuzilmalarni aks ettiruvchi madaniy hodisadir. Ushbu maqolada ovqatlanish amaliyotlari — kundalik taom tanlashdan tortib, ovqatlanish odoblari, diniy marosimlar va ijtimoiy ierarxiyalargacha — madaniy o‘zlikni qanday shakllantirishi va belgilab berishi o‘rganiladi. Oziq-ovqatni antropologik, sotsiologik va tarixiy nuqtai nazardan tahlil qilish uning ijtimoiy mansublikni mustahkamlash, an’analarni saqlash va globallashuv ta’sirini muvozanatlashtirishdagi rolini ochib beradi.
