Ushbu maqola tarmoqlarda kechikish (latency) va paket yo‘qotishlarini simulyatsiyalashning nazariy va amaliy jihatlarini chuqur tahlil qilishga qaratilgan. Hozirgi kunda telekommunikatsiya tizimlarining samarali ishlashi, Internet xizmatlari va real vaqtda ma’lumot uzatish tizimlarining sifati bevosita kechikish va paket yo‘qotishlariga bog‘liq. Kechikish tarmoqdagi paketlarning manzilga yetib borish vaqtini bildirsa, paket yo‘qotishlari esa ma’lumotning uzatishda butunlay yo‘qolgan qismini anglatadi.
