Sitomegalovirusi (CMV), ilgari infektsiyalanmagan organizmga kirganda, hujayralarga kiradi va faol ravishda ko‘payishni boshlaydi. Ko‘payish natijasida hosil bo‘lgan “qizamiq” virusi zarralar infektsiyalangan hujayradan chiqayotganda tashqi qobiq bilan o‘raladi. Bu holda virionlarning tashqi qobig‘i sitomegalovirusi tomonidan zararlangan hujayraning hujayra membranasi ishtirokida hosil bo‘ladi. CMV limfotsitlarda, qon monotsitlarida ko‘payadi va limfoid organlarda davomiy yashaydi[4,5,6].
