This article examines the distinctive features of semantic gradation among
lexical units and argues that this issue continues to require serious scholarly attention.
It is maintained that the analysis of semantic gradation can serve as an important
criterion for evaluating the thematic organization and artistic quality of literary texts.
The study also demonstrates that the gradual semantic differentiation of lexical units
contributes significantly to the creation of poetic expressiveness and stylistic
originality.
