Abstract

Intestinal helminthiasis remains a common parasitic disease worldwide and is
associated  not  only  with  gastrointestinal  manifestations  but  also  with  systemic
metabolic  disturbances.  Chronic  helminth  infections  can  disrupt  microelement
homeostasis  due  to  impaired  intestinal  absorption  and  competition  for  essential
micronutrients.
