Academic writing depends on the effective use of evidence, previous studies,
and reliable sources. Citation practices are essential for maintaining academic integrity,
recognizing the contributions of other researchers, and avoiding plagiarism. This study
examines the role of citation practices in improving the quality and credibility of
academic writing. The research explores common difficulties students and researchers
experience when using citation systems and analyzes how proper referencing
contributes to ethical scholarly communication. The study applies a qualitative
approach based on the analysis of academic writing guidelines and existing literature
on citation practices. The expected findings indicate that accurate citation improves the
organization of arguments, strengthens research reliability, and develops responsible
academic behavior. The study concludes that citation skills should be considered a
fundamental component of academic education and research development.
