Abstract: Social media has drastically changed the way people communicate in
the 21st century. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and
WhatsApp have created opportunities for instant messaging, global connectivity, and
rapid information sharing. These platforms facilitate personal, professional, and
educational interactions while enabling users to participate in social and political
discussions. Despite their many benefits, social media also poses challenges such as
misinformation, privacy violations, cyberbullying, and mental health issues. This paper
explores the impact of social media on communication, examining both its advantages
and drawbacks, and provides recommendations for responsible use.
